Homemade Avocado Shampoo

Avocado is bursting with dietary nutrients that provide minerals, vitamins and many other properties that play a critical role in maintaining your body, but it also has a few secrets for your hair with its vitamin c, iron, potassium, folate/folic acid and many more minerals and antioxidants that work towards soothing the scalp, reducing frizz, treating dandruff, conditioning and if there’s any left over you can apply it to your face to refresh your beauty. It is also protein rich which will strengthen and protect your hair, achieving ultimate results.

AVOCADO & BAKING SODA SHAMPOO

WHAT YOU’LL NEEDED

1 avocado
2 tb spoons of Baking soda
¼ cup of distilled water
¼ cup of castile soap

Place the peeled avocado in a bowl and with a blender, mix it into a paste, then in a separate bowl mix the distilled water and the castile soap, add the baking soda and mix it together. Add the avocado paste and mix together, then put the paste into a plastic container and you’re ready to use.

AVOCADO SEED SHAMPOO

WHAT YOU’LL NEEDED

3 dried (for 3 days) avocado seeds
1 litre of water
¼ cup of liquid castile soap

Add the water into a pot on low heat and grate the seeds into the water. Let it boil for 30 minutes on medium /low heat, then strain the liquid into a bowl and let it cool.
After it has cooled downs, transfer it to a plastic or glass bottle. This can be used as a hair rinse or you can add ¼ cup of castile soap to thicken and use it as a shampoo.

AVOCADO HAIR MASK

WHAT YOU’LL NEEDED

1 avocado
1 tb spoon of olive oil
1 tb spoon of lemon juice

Crush the avocado into a bowl, add the olive oil and lemon juice, and mix it well. If you’re feeling a bit creative you can use a blender to create a more fluffy texture.
Once this is done, apply mixture to damp hair and cover it for 30 minutes under a shower cap.
Then wash your hair with a sulphate free shampoo, and dry as usual.
You will find that your hair will be easier to manage and will have more shine.

DEEP AVOCADO CONDITIONER

WHAT YOU’LL NEEDED

1 avocado
1-2 tb spoons of honey
1 tb spoon of coconut oil
¼ cup of aloe vera juice
1tb spoon of fresh lemon juice

Place the honey, lemon juice and avocado into a bowl and mix it into a paste using a blender. Pour the aloe vera juice into the mix and blend, adding more aloe vera juice if the consistency is too thick. Add the coconut oil and blend well into a smooth paste.
Use this mixture after washing your hair with sulphate free shampoo, apply this avocado deep treatment massaging gently into your scalp and leave it under shower cap for 30 minutes.
